American Studies Journal is still accepting submissions for our forthcoming Special Summer Reading Issue themed "Books We Need Now"!
This is a precarious moment in the U.S. and around the globe. Which books do you believe are most relevant for navigating our current juncture in history? Our summer reading issue annually features book review essays relevant to the field of American studies. This year, on our 60th anniversary, we are desirous of review essays that speak not only to our academic and pedagogical interests, but to the immediacy of our times. We welcome review essays that build knowledge, partnerships, and coalitions, practical pooling of tactics, wisdom, and creative democratic possibilities, histories that help us to understand the present in both theory and praxis.
Have a book you would like to see reviewed for the forthcoming issue of American Studies Journal? We are open to suggestions — email firstname.lastname@example.org.
